FAQ

Where is your office?

My office is located at the following address:

99 Whitfield Street
Suite 203
Guilford, CT 06437

There is a parking lot with free parking for all clients on Water Street directly behind our office building.

I also provide telehealth, so you can have sessions from the comfort of your own home if you prefer.

How long are sessions?

Sessions are approximately 50 minutes long.

We may choose to have a longer session for a family/partner session if it feels like we need more time.

Do you take insurance?

Soundview Therapy Group does not contract with any insurance companies. Services are provided on a private-pay, “out-of-network” basis.

Though insurance plans vary, most insured clients receive some reimbursement for outpatient mental health services (up to 80%). As a courtesy, you will be provided with a “Superbill,” which contains the necessary billing and diagnostic codes to seek reimbursement.

We recommend reaching out to your insurance provider and asking them what “out-of-network behavioral health” services are covered.

Below are some questions that you can ask your insurance company to help you understand your out-of-network benefits:

What is the reimbursement rate for an out-of-network mental health provider per session (once your deductible has been met)?

What is my current yearly deductible?

How much of this deductible has been met?

How many therapy sessions does my plan cover?

How do I submit for reimbursement?

Are there any limitations on the number of sessions or the amount paid out?

Is pre-approval required from my primary care physician?

How do I set up an appointment?

You can set up an appointment by filling out the form below, calling (203) 689-3494, or emailing julia@soundviewtherapygroup.com.

I will do my best to get back to you within 24 business hours.

What is your cancellation policy?

Soundview requires 24 hours’ notice for all cancellations. You can call, email, or text to cancel or reschedule.

There is a $180 cancellation fee for appointment changes outside that 24-hour window, but that will be waived for emergencies. I am a human being, after all.

What type of clients do you work with?

I work with individual adults (18+) of all genders.

My specialties include anxiety, depression, perfectionism, life transitions, and substance issues (whether that’s you or a family member).

If I am not professionally trained to help you with the area(s) you’d like to work on, I will refer you to someone who is a better fit for your specific needs. The most important thing is working with someone you can trust and feel comfortable with.

What can I expect in a session?

Great question. Sessions are directed by your needs and goals. We’ll talk about the past, the present moment, and your future plans. I’ll never ask you to talk about something you’re not ready to talk about or that doesn’t feel helpful.

We can also go over skills to help you in specific situations.

At the end of the day, our sessions are about meeting your goals and supporting you in the process. I’ll guide the process, but we’re collaborators on this journey.

Salsa or guacamole?
This may be controversial, but I’d choose salsa.
Beach or mountains?
Beach, of course! Why else would I live on the Connecticut shoreline?
